on finding a sitter

Anyone have any advice on how to find a safe sitter?
Any of my SAHM or college-type friends need a little work?

I really want to do only freelance work at home, but I think I'm going to need to work a couple days a week. Usually Josh can be home two days a week, but if I decided to work a third day, I would need a sitter one day each week. I have strong [and negative] feelings about daycare, but I might be willing to concede on a sitter in our home once a week.

I really would love if I could find someone I know who is interested. I thought I'd post it here and see if any friends want to express any interest. I'd also like to hear from anyone who knows someone trustworthy who might be interested, and I will gladly accept any advice on the matter.

IMHO...speaking from MY heart...and I know all situations are different, but I would say if you can at all help it, keep your baby/kids OUT of daycare. That is one of my biggest regrets in raising Matthew.

He was in daycare from 6 weeks until he went to Kindergarten. I really feel that it caused MAJOR burnout when he did finally go to school. He never really got to just stay home, play, be a kid until he went to school.

I finally tried to "make amends" when he went to first grade by switching to night shift so that I could be home with all day (summer, school breaks, snow days) and pick up/drop off from school.

I went back to first shift when he got old enough that he didn't "need me" so much.

Keep praying Shannon...you'll find the best person suited for Baby Eli!

If I were 2,000 miles closer, I would love to help you with Baby Eli any day of the week! ;-)
